The rapper, whose real name is Tyler Okonma, was taken into custody shortly before midnight Thursday after The Roxy Theatre’s security staff called police. He was booked for felony vandalism at the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station and released on a $20,000 bond, the sheriff’s department said in a news release.
TMZ, the first outlet to report the arrest, has posted video of the rapper, a leader of the group Odd Future, in the back of a police car.
Odd Future’s publicist, Heathcliff Berru, tweeted, “LAPD did [Tyler, The Creator] dirty. And brought out a swat team and a ghetto bird to combat a bunch of teenagers.”
From his verified Twitter account, Okonma tweeted, “Whoa, Its Stories On Me Being In Jail? The [expletive]? I Wasnt In No Jail Or Arrested Or Nothing.”
His booking photo says otherwise.
