Al Green, Steely Dan, Captain Beefheart recordings headed to Library of Congress; Britney Spears songwriter defends Britney Spears; Bryan Ferry falls ill

- The Library of Congress has chosen 25 recordings to add to the National Recording Registry. Among them, the work of De La Soul, Steely Dan, Tammy Wynette, Captain Beefheart, John Fahey and Al Green. If you read our breaking story at 3 a.m., you already know all about it.

- Britney Spears doesn’t get much songwriting credit on her new album “Femme Fatale” and one of her songwriters has taken to the blogosphere to explain why that’s a good thing.
