(AP Photo/Julio Cortez, file)- Rapper Ja Rule was sentenced to 28 months in jail for failing to pay taxes on a portion of his earnings from 2004 through 2008. He also has to serve a separate two-year sentence on weapons charges, but will be able to serve them concurrently, so at least there’s that.
- You’ll never believe it, but Adele leads the Mercury prize shortlist for the best British album of the year. Other nominees for the prestigious award include PJ Harvey, James Blake, Katy B and Tinie Tempah.
