Lists: Top indie 7"s of 2010

What's more impossible than keeping up with the onslaught of albums released in 2010? Keeping up with the onslaught of vinyl 7" singles released in 2010. Vinyl continues on the comeback trail even in this era of file-sharing, with 7" singles being the efficient counterpoint to the MP3. There are countless records on hundreds of micro-labels to sort through but I've done the best I can. Below you'll find my 10 favorites from 2010, with a song from each. The 7" is the best medium because of its brevity, so a one-word description accompanies each.

Big Troubles - "Big Troubles"
"Freudian Slips" - Fuzzy.

Moon Duo - "Catch As Catch Can"
"Catch As Catch Can" - Suicide-y.

Weekend/Young Prisms - Split 7"
"End Times" (Weekend) - Surgy.

Crystal Stilts - "Shake the Shackles"
"Shake the Shackles" - Shambly.

The Shirks - "Disease"
"Negative Reaction" - Whiplashy.

Mind Spiders - "Mind Spiders"
"World's Destroyed" - Snappy.

Fair Ohs/Spectrals - Split 7"
"Hey Lizzy" (Fair Ohs) - Bouncy.

Gauntlet Hair - "I Was Thinking"
"Our Scenery" - Bursty.

Neon Blud - "Whipps"
"Neon Agenda" - Bludgeony.

Prinzhorn Dance School - "Seed, Crop, Harvest"
"Seed, Crop, Harvest" - Minimaly.
