After about 32 weeks of talking with Washingtonians about what songs are in their ear, I have been energized, surprised (who knew Tommy Wells liked Eddie Rabbitt?) and most importantly, thankful for the opportunity to interact with the people that make our city tick. Below is a roundup of the best songs that I’ve been introduced to while writing our Play favorites column this year, from Steely Dan to Stan Getz. My iPod and I are forever grateful.

- Jen Corey, April 11: Frankie Smith, “Double Dutch Bus

- Sheldon Scott, April 18: - Stan Getz, Luiz Bonfa, Maria Helena Toledo, “Saudade Vem Commendo Correndo

- Christylez Bacon, April 25: Steely Dan, “Glamour Profession

- Katherine Kennedy, June 6: The Black Keys, “Tighten Up

- Rachel Cothran, June 13: James Brown, “Mashed Potato Popcorn

- Angie Ange, July 11: Erykah Badu, “20 Feet Tall

- Derek Brown, Aug. 1: Darondo, “Didn’t I

- Tommy Wells, Aug. 15: Eddie Rabbitt, “Suspicions

- Joe Englert, Sept. 12: Raphael Saadiq, “Radio” and Danger Mouse and Daniele Luppi, “Two Against One,” (with Jack White)
