A 15-year-old Centreville area boy died Sunday after he was hit by a car Saturday night, Fairfax County police said.
A 44-year-old man driving a Toyota FJ Cruiser was traveling north on Pleasant Valley Road near Smithhaven Place about 8:10 p.m. Saturday when he saw a vehicle in front of him make an abrupt u-turn and stop in the road, police said.
The man then "felt an impact" and stopped his vehicle, according to police, discovering that he had struck the teen. The teen had been sitting in the roadway, police said; investigators determined that he appeared to have been running in and out of traffic before he was hit.
The teen was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he died from his injuries about 9:20 p.m.
Police have not identified the or the driver of the Toyota.
