New York Knicks forward Amar’e Stoudemire suffered no ligament or tendon damage when he cut his left hand angrily punching the glass door of a fire-extinguisher nook Monday night.
However, according to the New York Daily News report, Stoudemire is not expected to play in Game 3 on Thursday night and may miss the rest of the series.
Stoudemire was examined by a hand specialist when the team returned to New York after Monday’s 104-94 loss in Miami. After the Knicks fell to 0-2 against the Heat in their playoff series, Stoudemire punched the door to the box containing the fire extinguisher and had to have stitches in his left, non-shooting hand. He left the arena with his hand heavily bandaged and his arm in a sling.
Meanwhile, the extinguisher keeps tweeting (“I'll put last night in the past as soon as Amare issues apology. (then I'll jump in the studio and work on a track with him)” and the gifs keep coming (now in an “Office Space” homage).
Stoudemire tweeted his regret over the matter: “I am so mad at myself right now, I want to apologize to the fans and my team, not proud of my actions, headed home for a new start. We all have done thing out of anger that we regret. That makes us human. Bad timing on my part. Sorry guys. This [too] shall pass.”
