Twice a year, in spring and fall, the Arlington Arts Center hands over its galleries to a small group of contemporary artists chosen by a panel of experts; each artist gets a room to do with as he or she pleases. The latest five are on view now in “Spring Solos 2012.” The exhibit features an interactive sound installation by Emily Biondo; photos by Michael Borek; a space-conscious installation by Leah Cooper; drawings, sculpture and photography by Travis Head; and sculpture by Emily Hermant.
In general, the works are quiet and subtly expressed, inviting close attention and thought; nothing is flashy or attention grabbing. And yet the art seduces. Read my review, and check out a selection of images from the show in the gallery at the top of this post.
