Nationals prospect Brian Goodwin leaves game with an injury

Two days after Anthony Rendon suffered a badly sprained ankle, another top Nationals prospect left a game with an injury. Class A Hagerstown center fielder Brian Goodwin was pulled tonight in the second inning after he hit a single. The Nationals are currently assessing the nature and severity of Goodwin’s injury.

Goodwin, whom the Nationals chose with the 34th pick and signed with a $3 million bonus, had started his professional career fast. In five games counting tonight, he has gone 6 for 16 with five walks, two home runs, a double and two steals.

The Nationals’ minor leagues have had terrible luck this season with injuries, and it continued tonight.
