Jonathan Slye of Vienna wanted to organize an all-day, head-banging, Christian-oriented rock fest at Bull Run Regional Park. So what if he’s only 17 years old?
And he did it. He’s lined up P.O.D., Brian “Head” Welch from KoRn and a bunch of other ear-crushers to throw down at Spring Jam Fest next Saturday, May 14.
Peggy Fox of WUSA-9 has the scoop on this, which includes the key fact that a 17-year-old is not old enough to authorize contracts in Virginia. But he got his father involved, raised $25,000 to get things moving, and now he needs to sell 4,000 tickets to break even.
“The goal is to not shove Jesus down people’s throats. But I’d like to see as many people as possible in there. Just having a great time, and a lot of bonding. And for people who dismiss God, maybe come away with a spark,” Jonathan told Fox.
Tickets are $25 at the door, $15 in advance at iTickets.com.
