A $23 million mansion avoids auction

Rodney P. Hunt built a 20,000-plus-square-foot mansion on the Potomac River in McLean as a monument to what he’d achieved as co-founder of RS Information Systems, a government contracting firm. The house, with its indoor basketball court, two-lane bowling alley and 15-car garage, was facing a foreclosure auction this week. The entrepreneur owed more than $9.4 million to Bank of America, public records show, for money borrowed against the house, which was once featured on MTV’s “Teen Cribs.” On Wednesday, Hunt was able to convince the bank that he can make payments on the loan, and the auction was cancelled.
