Bryce Harper: Washington Nationals outfielder

Bryce Harper (born Oct. 16, 1992) plays left field for the Washington Nationals. He won the 2012 National League Rookie of the Year award after hitting .270 with 22 home runs in 139 games. He was selected by the Washington Nationals with the first pick in the 2010 Major League Baseball draft. He made his debut as a 19-year old on April 28, 2012. Harper earned his GED after his sophomore year of high school, making him eligible for the 2010 draft. As a 17-year old he played for the College of Southern Nevada, where he won the 2010 Golden Spikes Award as the nation’s top amateur baseball player. He made his minor league debut on April 7, 2011 with the Class A Hagerstown Suns. He made his Class AA debut on July 4 with the Harrisburg Senators and his Class AAA debut on April 5 with the Syracuse Chiefs.
